To prepare Hungarian Fruit Roll. Recipe:

Make a pie-dough. Roll out and spread with melted butter, raisins, currants, chopped apples, nuts and shredded citron. Cover well with brown sugar and sprinkle with cinnamon and the grated peel of a lemon. Roll up the dough. Lay in a buttered baking pan. Rub the top well with melted butter and let bake until brown 350F 180C.

Serve with white wine cream sauce.

Pie Dough

2 1/2 cups flour, 1 teaspoon salt, 2 Tablespoons sugar, 3/4 cup (a stick and a half) unsalted butter, chilled, cut into 1/4 inch cubes, 1/2 cup of all-vegetable shortening (8 Tbsp), 6-8 Tablespoons ice water.

White Wine Cream Sauce

In a medium saucepan over medium-high heat, combine the Equal parts 1 cup heavy cream or milk, & white wine, 1 tablespoon of flour, a dash of salt.  Stir all together heat to simmer until thickened. If you need to thin it out use the white wine. Mix the flour or arrowroot in the cold cream or milk.  Note Arrow Root is used to thicken clear and light colored sauces does not change the flavors of the sauce.

Another great project for the kids

Enjoy
